Submerge and Soothe: The Rise of Ice Baths

As the world becomes increasingly fascinated with health and wellness practices, ice baths have become a popular trend among athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and even those seeking wellness benefits. While the thought of submerging oneself in freezing water might send shivers down your spine, the rewards that come with this chilly endeavour might just outweigh the initial discomfort.

Ice baths involve putting your body in water typically ranging from 10 to 15°C for a prescribed period, usually between 10 to 20 minutes. The cold temperature triggers a physiological response in the body, triggering various mechanisms that contribute to the benefits such as pain relief, faster recovery, and stress relief.

For how much ice you should be using the majority of the at home inflatable ice baths used are around 120cm x 100cm x 68cm and take roughly 200 litres of water to fill. This would mean it would take about 3-4 bags of ice to cool. If you are not sure about the size of your bath for smaller bathtubs or containers usually use about 1-2 bags of ice (4.5-6.8 kilograms). For larger bathtubs or containers normally use around 3-4 bags of ice (9-13.6 kilograms). The increased volume of water in larger tubs will require more ice to achieve and maintain the desired coldness.

As individuals continue to explore alternative methods for optimizing health and recovery, ice baths stand out as a refreshing and beneficial way. By embracing the chill and understanding the correct amount of ice to cool your body people can use ice baths to help them feel better and improve their overall well-being.
